Rehab - GOING HOME (13 Jan)

Some good news - estimates of peak flooding downsized - still a major impact but not as dire as they were predicting!  See http://www.facebook.com/QueenslandPolice and http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland for quickest updates of Brisbane situation.  This from the Police at 5.30 a.m.:
Police advise that the Brisbane River has now reached its peak. Water levels will remain high for the rest of the day. Current predictions indicate that floodwater will slowly recede over the weekend.  Please wait for more current updates from hydrologists at the Bureau of Meteorology.
Vonn due to pick me up 10.00 am - and as far as I can gather from flooded road information, the route we took yesterday is still the best option.  Of course, I was awake at 4.00 a.m. and immediately went searching for latest news on the River and the flooding.  The worst hit areas appear to be where the river winds, on the "corners" so to speak.  One of the biggest problems is the debris and the size of the debris careening down the river, the Gateway Bridge has been closed 3 times because of it.

And it's goodbye from Rosemount/GARU
It's now 9.00 a.m. and it's time to sign off as a rehab chronicle and go back to what this blog was meant for - quilting: have lots of catching up to do and fabric to fondle and quilts, stuffies and other things to make.

My thanks and love go to my family and friends who followed me on this long journey and were there to carry me and support me every step of the way - and a special thank you to Mark, my caring and protective friend, financial adviser and all round good guy!!

In 60 minutes and one physio test, I'll be free and on my way home with a scad of pills, more luggage than I came with and a very glad heart!  Now it's on with the adventure!
